WHAT IS THE FIX YOUR BIKE VOUCHER SCHEME?

This scheme has been set up to encourage more people in England to embrace cycling, to boost the number of low carbon, low pollution trips, and to promote an alternative to private cars and public transport, particularly while social distancing measures are in place.

WHO CAN APPLY?

You must be over 18 to apply for a voucher

The scheme is open to anyone who has an unused cycle in need of a repair. Helping them start using it again by providing £50 towards the cost of a service and repair for up to two cycles per household. To participate in the scheme, cyclists will need to take their cycle for a repair at a participating business along with their voucher code.

HOW DO I GET A VOUCHER CODE?

The easiest way to claim your voucher is to click the link on our Facebook page which leads you straight to the correct page on www.gov.uk where a link has been set up taking you to the Energy Saving Trust where you can claim your voucher.

Alternatively, search Fix your Bike Voucher Scheme on google – a link will appear to take you to www.gov.uk where a link has been set up taking you to the Energy Saving Trust where you can claim your voucher.

Cyclists can apply for a unique voucher code in a few minutes using the online platform where they will need to provide some basic details about themselves and their cycle(s). Cyclists are encouraged to check that their chosen repairer has capacity and is accepting vouchers before applying for a voucher- a map of participating mechanics and shops is available on the online portal.

CAN I HAVE “ANY” REPAIR DONE TO MY BIKE?

Please note that NOT ALL REPAIRS will be accepted in the scheme

The repairs must be necessary to make cycles roadworthy and fit for purpose, this may include:

– Repair or replace tyres, tubes, wheels and related components

– Adjust, repair or replace braking system components

– Adjust, repair or replace transmission system components

– Repair or replace other essential components which prevent safe use of the cycle e.g. deteriorated grips or saddle

– Repair or replacement of components for permanently fitted lighting systems

Repairs which are NOT eligible:

– replacement or upgrade of existing safe and roadworthy components

– replacement or repair of removable lighting accessories

HOW MUCH IS THE VOUCHER WORTH?

Vouchers will cover up to £50 per cycle towards the Eligible Repairs and parts that need replacement as part of the Eligible Repairs.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE REPAIRS COST MORE THAN £50

The cycle owner will need to pay the remainder cost if the cost is greater than £50.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE COST IS LESS THAN £50

The voucher will cover all repairs up to £50. No money will be given back in change if the cost is less than £50. No credit on account will be given if the repair if less than £50. The repair will be completed and the voucher will cover the cost for any amount up to £50.

HOW MANY VOUCHERS CAN I CLAIM?

A maximum of 1 voucher can be claimed per customer address.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY VOUCHER IS NOT VALID?

Vouchers must be valid at point of redemption.

HOW DO I REDEEM MY VOUCHER?

The voucher has a code on it – this must match your identification

You must also provide proof of your address which must match the voucher registration details.

ACCEPTED FORMS OF CUSTOMER ID

Accepted forms of customer identification are either:

– a valid driving licence photo card with address, or another form of photographic identification either:

– Passport,

– National identity card (non-UK),

– Residence permit

plus one of the following, less than 3 months old, paper or electronic:

– utility bill,

– council tax bill,

– mortgage statement,

– council/housing association rent card, – benefit book.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT REPAIRS I NEED?

We will check and assess the cycle to work out the repairs needed and make sure they are eligible repairs. The repairs must be necessary to make cycles roadworthy and fit for purpose as per the scheme guidelines.

At this point it is important that we agree with you that we can complete the repair and agree the cost for this.  Any additional costs above £50 must be covered by you. We will then process your voucher to allocate it to Bike Bench and this cannot be changed after this point.
